Matt Derby "Big Iron" (Maza Tanka) 

A fourth generation craftsman who learned the art of pipestone carving from his uncle Jeffery Derby and other relatives as well. He is the son of Madeline Derby-Redwing, and a member of the Sisseton–Wahpeton Dakota Tribe.

Matt’s specialties are small craft items such as arrowhead paperweights and arrowhead pendant necklaces.

He is a direct descendant of Moses Crow, who settled in the Pipestone area around 1927 to work the pipestone quarries and carve the pipestone rock.
